Although it seems like the Red Cross might be part of the government, it actually is not at all. They do, however, operate in a partnership capacity with the canadian government. This means they address many emerging issues around the world that have an impact on humanitarian work such as the international humanitarian law. The Red Cross also works with federal, provincial and municipal governments to provide services such as disaster assistance to Canadians.
